About Barbara Hernandez
Bárbara Milenka Hernández Huerta is a Chilean extreme swimmer, internationally known as "The Ice Mermaid." She has established herself as a world champion in swimming in icy waters (with temperatures between 0 and 5 degrees Celsius) and in aquatic ultramarathons, all without a wetsuit. She holds two Guinness World Records: one for her feat around Cape Horn in 2022 and another in Antarctica in 2023.
She is the first South American to complete the Ocean's Seven challenge and the only Chilean globally recognized for her extreme swimming feats, being a member of the Antarctica 2030 initiative and the Antarctic and Southern Ocean Coalition (ASOC). She is also a prominent speaker and psychologist with a Master's degree in Psychology from the University of Chile.
