Aria Giovanni was born Cindy Renee Volk on November 3, 1977, in Long Beach, California. She is an American glamour model and actress whose career became closely associated with the polished, softcore side of adult entertainment in the early 2000s. She was the middle of three children and later studied biochemistry in San Diego, eventually transferring to the University of California, San Diego, where she also pursued English writing. Giovanni has spoken publicly about a difficult childhood and about being academically successful despite instability at home. In a Howard Stern Show interview, she recounted how she went wild after her father left and began experimenting with drugs and alcohol. It became so bad that her mother found her passed out and she was sent to rehab at only 12 years old.
