About Alice Han

Alice is a London, UK-based China economist, geopolitical strategist, researcher, speaker, and former MasterChef Australia contestant. She was born and raised in Sydney, Australia. Her parents emigrated from Shanghai, China. She has described growing up with an east-meets-west mix of language, culture, and food.
Her career centers on Chinese macroeconomics, political economy, US-China relations, fintech, and related strategy. She earned a BA in history and economics from Harvard University and an MA in East Asian Studies from Stanford University.
She serves as Director and China Economist at Greenmantle, advising hedge funds, venture capital, and private equity. She co-hosts the China Decode podcast and has written or appeared in outlets such as the Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, Foreign Affairs, and others. She was a Scholar-in-Residence at the Centre for Independent Studies (2022–23) and has spoken at various events. She was a contestant on MasterChef Australia Season 15. She speaks English, Mandarin, French, and German.
