Alexis Sharkey (full name Alexis Leigh Sharkey, née Robinault) was a vibrant 26-year-old American social media influencer and Instagram star from Warren, Pennsylvania, who had relocated to Houston, Texas. Known for her engaging posts, beauty content, lifestyle shares, and positive energy, she built a following by showcasing her life, travels, and everyday moments—appearing to live her best life online.
Born in Pennsylvania, she was described by family and friends as smart, kind-hearted, with a bright future ahead. She married Thomas "Tom" Sharkey in December 2019, and the couple lived in Houston for about a year before tragedy struck.
On November 27, 2020 (the day after Thanksgiving), she was last seen alive around 6 p.m. She went missing, and her naked body was discovered the next morning (November 28) on the side of a road in west Houston near the Katy Freeway. An autopsy later ruled her death a homicide by strangulation.
The case gained widespread attention online, featured in documentaries like an episode of TikTok: Murder Gone Viral, and sparked discussions about domestic violence, social media personas, and hidden struggles. Her husband was named as the suspect (with evidence pointing to him having means, motive, and opportunity amid a reportedly troubled, controlling relationship that was ending), but he died by suicide in Florida on October 5, 2021, just before authorities could arrest him.
