Early Life and Athletic Beginnings:
Alanah grew up in Gingin, a small farming town north of Perth. She began her athletics journey at 13 while attending Swan Christian College. Initially trying the 400m hurdles at 14, she quickly excelled, winning the Australian under-17 title just over a year later.
Collegiate Career in the U.S.
In 2019, Alanah accepted a scholarship to the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), where she pursued a business degree with a minor in psychology. During her time at UTSA, she achieved significant milestones, including winning the 400m hurdles at the 2022 Conference USA Outdoor Championships and setting personal bests of 54.19 seconds in the 400m and 57.00 seconds in the 400m hurdles.
Olympic Qualification and Paris 2024
Alanah’s path to the 2024 Paris Olympics was marked by an extraordinary effort. In June 2024, she competed in five races across five countries within 16 days, achieving three sub-56-second times in three consecutive days—a feat she hadn’t accomplished a month prior. This rigorous schedule culminated in her qualification for the Olympics, where she reached the semifinals in the 400m hurdles with a personal best of 55.11 seconds.
Recent Achievements
In April 2025, Alanah secured second place in the 400m hurdles at the Australian Athletics Championships with a time of 55.29 seconds. The following month, she contributed to Australia’s silver medal in the mixed 4x400m relay at the 2025 World Athletics Relays in Guangzhou, setting a new Oceania record of 3:12.34.
Personal Life
Beyond athletics, Alanah has worked as a model and is of Croatian descent. She continues to train in Texas under coach Rose Monday.
